Compositional Guidelines:
Composition: Seeing and arranging things in a pleasing way. The arrangements of elements on a picture plane.
1. Simplicity:
Simplify the composition so that the background does not interfere with or take away from the subject matter.
2. Rule of Thirds:
Place the main subject matter off center. Consider negative space as an important part aspect of the composition.
3. Lines:
Arranging the shapes, lights, darks, and colors in a complimentary way. Balance can be symmetrical or asymmetrical.
5. Framing:
Use obects in the foreground to help frame the subject matter and to add depth and dimension to the photograph.
6. Avoiding Mergers:
Avoid putting objects too close to the subject matter, obscurring the image and changing the appearance of the image.
