Objectives:
- Students use knowledge about value and texture from graphite projects to create a realistic drawing in colored pencil.
- Students learn 6 colored pencil techniques: burnishing, layering, gradient, sgraffito, hatching, and impressed line.
- Students learn and understand how and when to use each technique to accomplish a desired effect towards realism.
Project Guidelines:
- Colored pencil drawing will be based off of a reference photo taken by student.
- Colored pencil drawing must have THREE techniques evident. (You will probably end up using most of the six techniques to accomplish realism)
- Drawing will utilize surface texture, value, shading, contour, proportion, and detail to accurately copy the reference photo.
- Color fills the canvas (paper).
