QUARANTHINGS!
This assignment is inspired by both photographer Gregg Segal ("Daily Bread" series), and art teacher Libby Beaty who came up with the initial "Quaranthings" photo project.
Photographer Gregg Segal traveled around the world to research and document what kids ate around the world. After three three years and travels to nine different countries, he compiled his findings and photography into a book: "Daily Bread: What kids eat around the world". His work is thought to explore cultural identities, waste and nutrition around the world.
Art teacher Libby Beaty called on students to create photos inspired by Segal's work, swapping the focus from food, to what students are surrounding themselves with during this time of "Shelter in Place".
Assignment: What comforts you during the quarantine? Collect and arrange objects that are important to you during this time. Photograph yourself with these carefully arranged objects (Note: You may have someone else take the photo). Take several photos! Edit and select your favorite. Upload your final photo to Google Classroom.
Strive to create an intentional and aesthetically pleasing photographic composition. Consider:
- positive and negative space
