Continuous Line/ Blind Contour Drawing
Students will do two observational drawings. Both will be "continuous line" which means that as you draw contour, you cannot start new lines. One drawing needs to be "blind" (not looking at your paper as you draw). Drawings must be detailed and spend a minimum of 25 minutes on each drawing. |
Student Examples |
Imagine and illustrate a scene in which the size relation of objects is surreal or unreal. Large objects or people are tiny and/or small objects are gigantic.
Render detail and shade. Color may be used. Fill sketchbook page. Spend a minimum of 50 minutes on drawing. |
Student Examples (coming soon) |
Drawing based off of a reference photo.
Turn the subject of the photo into "negative space" (white) and fill in the surrounding space with graphite or ink. Include interesting and complex details in the subject matter. Start by drawing the contour of the subject matter and complex details. Drawing should have 50% black space, 50% white space. Fill your sketch book page. Spend a minimum of 50 minutes on assignment. Tape the reference photo in your sketch book. |
